Falcons Running Back Devonta Freeman is in the midst of a very productive year in 2016. Freeman is a part of a two-headed duo with Tevin Coleman that strikes fear in opposing defenses. With heading into next season Freeman will have one year remaining on his contract but his agent claims Freeman should be paid now.
“It’s time for the Falcons to pay him like the elite back he is,” Freeman’s agent, Kristin Campbell, told NFL.com. “I expect them to make him a priority this offseason, as he’s been an integral part of the dynamic offense that has gotten them to the Super Bowl.”
Freeman, a 4th round pick in 2014, will earn $800,000 next season under the final year of his rookie contract. In my opinion, I tend to think he is more of a product of the Kyle Shanahan offense but that’s just me. Freeman’s production has skyrocketed under Shanahan’s tutelage compared to his rookie campaign without him. It’s a shame that a week prior to the Super Bowl that Freeman’s agent is more concerned with getting his client paid rather than waiting until after the Super Bowl. That’s what separates the Patriots from other organizations.
