The Los Angeles Rams and wide receiver DeSean Jackson have agreed to part ways now that the 2021 NFL Trade Deadline has passed. Los Angeles officially waived the former standout wide receiver on Tuesday afternoon. Once he clears waivers he will be free to sign with any team he wants to agree to terms with. Jackson requested a trade after it became apparent the Rams had less use for him as the season progressed. The Rams will move on without him in Week 9.
The #Rams are expected to release DeSean Jackson, per sources. Both parties explored trade possibilities. Jackson would have stayed but this gives him chance to get more playing time. He’ll be subject to waivers.

Jackson will likely have some interest on the open market and could land with a playoff contender when / if he clears waivers this week. While he is not in his prime anymore, DeSean Jackson is still incredibly fast and can provide some much-needed depth on the roster. Not much will change for the Rams other than some guys seeing one or two more targets at most per game.

So far this season, DeSean Jackson has eight catches for 221 yards and one touchdown. His yards per catch is an impressive 27.6 yards. While he is no longer a number one option he could still help a team in certain situations. The Rams offense was just too loaded to give Jackson the role he wanted to have with the team. Def Pen Sports will cover the update when he signs.
