As I’ve been saying for some time now. Deron Williams is mediocre. It’s not his fault entirely. You can’t stop having injuries. But what he can control and has done terribly, is his mindset.
In a piece by Mike Mazzeo of ESPN NY, Deron Williams is apparently comfortable with being benched. Who the hell is ever comfortable with being benched?!
“I’m all for the team. It doesn’t really matter to me,” said Williams, who came off the bench in Friday afternoon’s 109-107 victory over the Boston Celtics following a two-game absence due to a strained right calf and had eight points, four assists and four rebounds in 21 minutes.
“I’m still trying to get my rhythm back and obviously I’m on a minutes restriction right now, so I’m all for it.“
Lionel Hollins needs to make a decision with Williams and stop messing around with him. First he’s starting and now he’s getting a minutes restriction.
Or maybe I’m harping at the wrong person. Maybe Williams’ injuries have reached a chronic level where he just can’t be 100%.
Either way. This is just another problem packed onto the house of cards that is the Brooklyn Nets. Cap space, talent, it’s all going to come down. I’m just waiting for the day.
