
After a 5-7 start in the new WNBA season, the Los Angeles Spark have decided to fire Derek Fisher from his head coaching position. According to Howard Megal from The Next, Fred Williams will be the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

Fisher was hired in 2018, after a first experience as head coach with the New York Knicks. In his first season, the Sparks were the best team in the Western Conference with a 22-win season but they lost in the semifinals against the Connecticut Sun.
They made the playoffs again in 2020 and were just a few spots behind for the 2021 season, after Candace Parker left the team and signed with the Sky in free agency. Fisher finished with a record of 54 wins and 46 losses in a four-year tenure with the Sparks.
