Head Coach in waiting Jon Scheyer and the Duke Blue Devils have landed 2022 top three recruit and number one center Dereck Lively II. The Blue Devils continue to stack up on talent, but Lively II is the clear-cut headliner of the Duke 2022 recruiting class. He committed to the Blue Devils over the Kentucky Wildcats, Florida State Seminoles, North Carolina Tar Heels, Penn State Nittany Lions, Michigan Wolverines, and USC Trojans. Duke has assembled a monster first recruiting class for Jon Scheyer.
Dereck Lively, nation’s No. 2 player in the country, has committed to Duke.
Lively is a game-changer on defensive end. Long, athletic big man who runs the court & can step out and make shots.

Dereck Lively II is a top high school talent and will almost certainly be a “one and done” talent. He should be entering the 2023 NBA Draft after a stellar year with the Blue Devils. The new Duke recruit is ranked as the number two recruit and top center in the 2022 recruiting class. He is also listed at 7’1″ and 220 pounds with stellar defensive ability to pair with the size.

The other recruits joining Dereck Lively II at Duke are five-star small forward Dariq Whitehead, five-star power forward Kyle Filipowski, and four-star shooting guard Jaden Schutt. It is entirely possible the program lands at least one more recruit before the end of the 2022 recruiting period. Jon Scheyer has a top-rated recruiting class, headlined by Dereck Lively II, to begin his head coaching career.
