Less than a year after he was fired as the head coach of the Sacramento Kings, the Denver Nuggets have hired Mike Malone for the same position.
Malone will now join former Kings GM Pete D’Alessandro in the Nuggets organization as Pete was hired by the Nuggets not too long ago to take a high-ranking position with Denver.

Michael Malone has reached agreement on a deal to become coach of the Denver Nuggets, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Malone made the strongest impression with general manager Tim Connelly and president Josh Kroenke in meetings with Denver’s management and overtook interim coach Melvin Hunt to win the job, sources said.
Malone’s career record as the Kings coach was 39-67 in less than 2 seasons but last year his end was quite questionable. Malone was fired after the Kings started 11-13 which was a great pace to start for Sacramento, a team that hasn’t had the most success over the years.
He was dealt a seemingly unfair blow when the Kings superstar DeMarcus Cousins got shelved with viral meningitis and missed a chunk of games, a chunk that the Kings mostly lost. It seemed that the front office put Malone as the cause for the issues, despite the support he received from DeMarcus Cousins.
Now with both D’Alessandro and Malone gone from Sacramento and moved into the Nuggets organization, expect Denver to possibly make some changes with the highly coveted roster.
