It isn’t quite black Monday in the NFL, but that didn’t stop the Denver Broncos from parting ways with Head Coach Vic Fangio on Sunday. The common speculation surrounding the Broncos the past few weeks was that Fangio and his coaching staff would not stay in place after the season completed. Denver lost their last game of the season to the Kansas City Cheifs on Saturday afternoon. The search for the next Head Coach of the Denver Broncos is now officially underway.

Vic Fangio spent three seasons as the Head Coach of the Denver Broncos with overall disappointing results in each season. His record in each season as the Head Coach was 7-9, 5-11, and 7-10. The team finished fourth in the AFC West twice and second once. They did not make the playoffs in any of those three seasons. Despite an amazing start to the 2021-22 season, the Denver Broncos did not make the NFL Playoffs this year. A coaching change will likely also be paired with some type of quarterback change this offseason.
“Those other three teams have top-shelf quarterbacks, which is obvious to everybody.”

The next stop for Fangio on the coaching train may come quicker than some are expecting. Position and coordinator jobs typically open up every season and former Head Coaches are typically top candidates for those types of jobs. Worst case scenario he sits at home for a year and then comes back to some form of coaching football. The Broncos have some work to do this offseason.
