Dende has kicked off the month of July with a soulful two-pack, 2-Sided. Through two tracks, the warm voice of the rising artist powers through on debonair production. Along the way, he pulls from classic tracks like Corinne Bailey’s “Put Your Records On” and “American Boy” by Estelle. With each reference to a classic track, Dende puts his own seasoning on the track and showcases his intoxicating talent.
“Take me on a trip, I’d like to go some day,” Dende sings, referencing Estelle’s breakout hit.
“I want you next to me. Be my tour guide all the way. Take me on some fancy dates. Some building roofs in Saint Tropez,” he adds as he reimagines the record in his own way.
Yes, Dende is knowledgeable of those who came before him and paved the way for his sound. He also grew up in the church and went to school to study vocal performance, but those aren’t the only things that make his sound as well crafted as it is. The rising artist has carved out his own path in the crowded lane of blended R&B, Rap and soul because he’s not afraid to be himself. He’ll put his own spin on a classic record, compile hilarious footage for the “Sugar Daddy” video or create man-on-the-street content in Austin, Texas at SXSW. At all times, he is a one-of-a-kind personality and that always shines through in his music.
