Demetrius Andrade is back in a major way. On Friday night in New Hampshire, Demetrius Andrade stopped challenger Jason Quigley in the second round to retain his middleweight. While Andrade was a major betting favorite, he impressed the likes of Eddie Hearn, Alycia Baumgardner and several others who were sitting ringside with his explosive speed and skill. His aggression and pressure ultimately led to three knockdowns in the span of only a few minutes of action.
“I did what I said I would do; I looked good and felt good,” he said after the fight.
“Every time I get in the ring, I do something different, and I can do it all and whatever I need. … You asked for KOs and I give you KOs, so let’s go.”
The future is bright for Andrade, but one question still remains. Can he land a major fight? He has repeatedly called out Jermall Charlo, Gennady Golovkin and Jamie Mungia. However, it appears that none of the three fighters have interested in fighting him.
“I’m 31-0, Olympian and world champion, so what more do I need to do?” he asked.
What’s next for Andrade? Only time will tell.
