The Washington Wizards stay busy this off season by acquiring Mavericks Forward/Center DeJuan Blair through a Sign-And-Trade. Wizards are staying busy this off season, keeping Marcin Gortat, signing Paul Pierce and acquiring Kris Humphries and now DeJuan Blair.
Sources say the Mavs promised Blair that they would try to sign-and-trade him to a new team especially with the recent acquisition of Tyson Chandler, thinning the big man minutes. The Mavs wanted to help him as much they could financially as a reward for contributions the aggressive forward made last season, especially during Dallas’ seven-game battle with the eventual champion San Antonio Spurs in the opening round. The exact contract details are not released yet but the Mavs are slated to receive a second round pick from the Wizards.
Blair comes to Washington after averaging 15 minutes per game last year, scoring 6.4 points a game with a good .557 true shooting percentage and grabbing 17.5 percent of the available rebounds when on the court. Blair is a fantastic role player off the bench and showed up big in the Mavs series versus the San Antonio Spurs and losing him due to suspension proved to be one of the pivotal factors that led to the Mavs downfall.
Blair also seems to approve of this move to Washington.
