David Ortiz is safe and sound in a Boston hospital as he recovers from a shooting incident that took place last week. The shooting left plenty of people mortified that someone could target such an iconic figure in Ortiz. The suspected gunman was arrested just days after the shooting took place and shocked plenty of people.
The latest developments on ESPN come from Santo Domingo where the Dominican authorities reported the sentence for a man nicknamed “Bone” known as Gabriel Alexander Perez Vizcaino as one year of jail time in a preventative prison. This man served as the middle man between the hitmen who attempted to kill Ortiz and the person/group who paid for the job.
The authorities have stated that a man in jail on an unrelated case, reached out to Perez on June 9th to send a picture to Perez. Authorities have not said if the picture was of Ortiz. Perez, then showed it to the hit men at a gas station minutes before the shooting took place. After the shooting, Perez sold an iPhone to a woman for $180 to get rid of the evidence just a day later.
As mentioned above, Ortiz is in Boston where he remains in intensive care, but is safer and continues to try and recover. His attorney did speak on the case, saying that he trusts the Dominican authorities and was pleased with what they have found so far.
