Dave East has released his debut studio album, Survival. Comparatively speaking, East’s debut album is longer than many of his previous projects with a total of nineteen tracks. Alongside the New York rapper, Teyana Taylor, Lil’ Baby, Rick Ross, Nas, The Dream and more appear on the album. Behind the scenes, DJ Premier and others offer production for the album.
When speaking to Revolt about the inspiration for the album, Dave East said, “I was listening to Snoop Dogg’s first album, Doggystyle. I was listening to Cam’ron’s first album, Confessions of Fire.”
He added, “I listened to 50 Cent’s first album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’. I was listening to everybody sh*t…I studied what energy these had when they came out the gate to the world.”
Following the release of this album, Dave East will celebrate with a pair of shows in Washington, D.C. and Boston later this month. In the meantime, check out the project above and let us know what you think Dave East’s debut album, Survival.
