Daniel Dae Kim is set to produce and star in the upcoming romantic comedy, A Sweet Mess, from author Jayci Lee.
The film will follow the story of a popular taste maker turned small-town baker. Enjoying her new career path, her life is turned upside down when she has a slight cake mix-up and runs into food critic who threatens her new life. Hoping to make things right with the food critic, she travels out to California to guest star on the critic’s cooking show. Along the way, the two find that they have more in common than they previously thought.
“All of us at 3AD are so excited to be working with Jayci on A Sweet Mess. We were completely charmed by her work and look forward to bringing this story to the screen,” Kim said.
“I wrote A Sweet Mess to share a story featuring Asian Americans as main characters. To show them as fellow Americans who laugh, cry and love. Now everyone will be able to see A Sweet Mess come to life onscreen. My heart is bursting,” Lee said.
There is no word yet on when the film is slated to be released.
