The COVID-19 pandemic has slowed down things for much of the music industry. From concerts to festivals, much of the business remains in limbo. Even the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards have been transformed into a remote event.
In spite of these obstacles, some artists have shined through. North Carolina native DaBaby has come up big in the last few months. Beginning with the release of videos for “Shut Up” and “Find My Way” co-starring B. Simone, the rising artist got off to a fast start. Then, he followed it up with the release of his latest project, Blame It On Baby. The album shot up the charts to number one with 124,000 copies sold in just one week. Adding on to its success, “Rockstar” topped the charts for more than a month as the project’s lead single.
Continuing his strong 2020 run, the North Carolina artist has taken his talents to the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards. Following his quarantine style performance from the 2020 BET Awards, DaBaby added another top-notch show to his resume. Performing his biggest records of the year, DaBaby shined through on one of music’s biggest stages.
