Inglewood’s D Smoke has returned to the scene with the release of his “Gaspar Yanga” music video. Taking fans inside his hometown neighborhood, he illustrates how quickly a normal day can turn into a shooting. Directed by Sergio, the video features D Smoke, Snoop Dogg and a few others.
“I used to do this sh*t ’cause I loved it, busted for free though/I still do this sh*t for the love, but add another zero/A hero, in my city I’m Diddy mixed with Rico,” he rapped.
“Where your roots run?/Smoke, he talkin’ that shit, nigga, where you from?/We can do somethin’,” Snoop Dogg raps on the hook.
The video reunites D Smoke and Snoop Dogg who first connected on Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow in 2019. Together, the two shared one of the more impactful moments of season one when Snoop asked D Smoke, “Where are you from?” D Smoke responded, “Inglewood.” The two did this again once more before D Smoke pushed through to round two and ultimately the finals. This uniquely west coast moment set up a unique bond that is showcased in the video.
“Gaspar Yanga” provides the follow up to the “Black Habits” video that was released in step with his album, Black Habits. Check out the video above.
