Patterson had been dealing with a knee injury before Sunday’s win against the Cleveland Browns and the team rotated the back position throughout the game to give him some rest. Tyler Aglgeier and Caleb Huntley had 10 carries each in the game.
This season, Patterson has rushed for 348 yards and three touchdowns in the first four games as the Falcon’s primary runner.
Given Huntley’s performance in Sunday with 56 yards and a touchdown, he has been promoted to the 53-man roster. Before today, he had been playing for the last two weeks as a standard practice squad elevation.
The Falcons are currently with a 2-2 record with wins against the Browns and Seahawks and losses against the Saints and Rams. Now, they will face Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next Sunday as the latest tries to come back after a beatdown from the Kansas City Chiefs.
