Idris Elba, Caleb McLaughlin, Jharrel Jerome, Byron Bowers and Lorraine Toussaint have signed on to star in Concrete Cowboys. Behind the scenes, Ricky Staub will act as the movie’s director. In addition, Lee Daniels will produce the film alongside Tucker Tooley, Dan Walser, Elba and others.
The film is inspired by the legendary Fletcher Street Stables in Philadelphia. For more than a century, the stables have offered opportunities for inner city youth who are interested in horseback riding. Concrete Cowboys will closely follow the story of Cole by played McLaughlin, who discovers horseback riding after being sent to live with his estranged father in North Philadelphia.
The entire cast is seemingly hitting their peaks at the same time. McLaughlin is currently celebrating the success of yet another season of Stranger Things. Elba is enjoying the impressive Hobbs & Shaw box office sales. Not to mention, Jerome is celebrating his first Emmy nomination after appearing in Ava DuVernay’s When They See Us.
