Coming To America 2 is heading to Amazon Studios for $125 million. The long-anticipated sequel was originally at Paramount Studios, but is now heading to Amazon for an expected streaming release of December 18, 2020.
Final details of the deal are still being worked out. The two sides are reportedly working out additional marketing details that would include a partnership with McDonald’s and Crown Royal. Not to mention, the film’s leading man, Eddie Murphy, must give his final blessing for the deal to go through.
Coming To America 2 is just the latest acquisition for Amazon Studios. In recent months, Paramount Studios sent Without Remorse starring Michael B. Jordan over to Amazon Studios. The growing studio has also acquired the latest Borat film and Regina King’s One Night In Miami. Meanwhile, Paramount Studios has sold highly-anticipated films like Issa Rae’s Lovebirds and Aaron Sorkin’s Trial of the Chicago 7 to Netflix.
Coming To America 2 will land at Amazon on December 18, 2020 with the help of Eddie Murphy, Craig Brewer, Kenya Barris and a star studded cast. Stay tune for a full-length trailer.
