Here at Def Pen Sports we try to cover every iota of basketball, that includes the NBA Draft. Especially the NBA Draft. I personally love events like this, it give even the most pessimistic fan a time to hope, to dream that their next player will change the fortunes of their team.
Now the 56th pick in the Draft clearly isn’t known for being the most prestigious of picks, most of the time the second round picks live in Summer League and the D-League just fighting to stay in the game and hopefully get called up. But you never know, Branden Dawson out of Michigan State might surprise you. The Los Angeles Clippers certainly hope so. Because according to Dan Woike of the Orange County Register, the Clips bought Draft rights to the 56th pick from the New Orleans Pelicans for $600K. Leaving the Pelicans leaving the Draft with no new players.

Cost for the #Clippers to get pick No. 56 — approx $600,000 per source

Now why the Clippers felt the need to get this pick is random, I’m not sure what they’ll do with Branden Dawson. But hey, they desperately need a bench. Maybe Dawson can do some work in the summer and maybe, just maybe. He’s on the end of the bench ready to suit up in them bland, horrible uniforms.
