Just when you think James Jones, Mike Miller, Shawn Marion, Kevin Love and oh yea this guy LeBron James is enough for the Cavs, think again. To try and possibly appease the new coach, David Blatt, the Cavs are trying to acquire Denver Nuggets center Timofey Mozgov. According to ESPN.com’s Brian Windhorst the Cavs have been trying to bring in the seven foot Russian for 6-8 weeks now.
The connection between Mozgov and Blatt is there, due to Blatt coaching the Russian national team and a necessity for a reserve center is relevant on this current Cavaliers roster. Mozgov is making $4.65 million this season with the Denver Nuggets and has a $4.95 million team option in 15-16. The influx of new players and three max contracts already on the table with Kyrie Irving, LeBron James and Kevin Love, makes the money limited, a trade might be hard and coach Blatt knows that in his conversation with Sports.ru’s Alexander Chernykh.
Cavs tried to trade for Timofey Mozgov, David Blatt told ITAR-TASS. Added that he would love to add Shved, though neither trade will happen.

Mozgov would add depth to the Cavs, I would even consider starting him due to the fact he’s younger, has a healthier body and a little more athletic than Anderson Varejao. The Cavaliers don’t have many options out there still and might look to add a bargain-basement guy for dirt cheap just so they don’t have to utilize Kevin Love or even Tristan Thompson in the rotation as a back up center to Varejao.
Mozgov had a career game last season with 23 points and 29 rebounds but after TNT said Mozgov had the stat line in this picture last year, who wouldn’t want him, right?
