After it was originally reported that he would return to school, UNLV sophomore forward Christian Wood has decided to forgo is final two years of eligibility and declare for the NBA draft.
“I just want to thank Vegas for the four years they gave me out here, especially with them supporting me going through all of the stuff I went through,” Wood said. “You know, them having my back through thick and thin. With that being said, I’m going to turn my name into the 2015 NBA Draft because I think it’s best for me and my family. It’s always been my dream to be in the NBA. Just to make it. Just to say ‘man, I’m going to the NBA and I have the opportunity to be great.'”
Wood, originally from Long Beach, California, attended Findley Prep in Las Vegas for two years before attending UNLV.
Wood’s stock continues to rise as he’s projected to be a mid-to-late first round pick. The 6’11 220lb power forward had averages of 15.7 points, 10 rebounds, and almost three blocks a game.
If you want to see where I have Wood on my mock draft, version 3.0 comes out tomorrow at 10am.
