Chris Bosh Is Excited To Return To The Post This Season
The Miami Heat suffered the biggest loss of any team in free agency this offseason when LeBron James uttered the words, “I’m going home”. Even though Chris Bosh was slated to make his own move to the Houston Rockets, he chose to re-sign with the Heat. He since has expressed a rejuvenation at the loss of LeBron, hoping to return to more of a primary form for this new Heat roster.
Speaking to The Sun Sentinel’s Shandel Richardson, Bosh particularly spoke on looking forward to playing his natural position in the post again,
I had to play a role. I had to play the role for the championships. I feel that I’m back to doing what comes naturally for me, which is being back in the post, being more aggressive. I’m really excited to show the city of Miami what I have.
Bosh’s role essentially became a stretch-5 to ensure more spacing and appease the offensive versatility of having LeBron James as a hybrid forward. The fact that Bosh could extend to the three-point line and be a jump shooter for the Heat became a luxury that took him further away from the paint.
They didn’t need me to do that [play in the post]. (Wade) and LeBron were our post guys. I kind of really used to those tools that I gained and put it all together.
While the last several offseasons were spent honing his jump shooting, Bosh is back on the block this summer,
It’s just like riding a bike. You never forget. I have a lot of experience, years and years. Even though I didn’t get much experience, I always worked on it because I knew I was going to keep it sharp.
Bosh has plenty of experience as not just a post player but the go-to player from his time in Toronto. He knows the challenge and looks forward to embracing it again,
Just the demand night in and night out. Being in that position to where you’re expected to have a certain amount of output, to play a certain amount of minutes and score points and get a certain amount of rebounds, it’s going to be tough. But I enjoy that challenge. I’ve always enjoyed it. It’s just what comes natural to me. I’m excited. I’m looking forward to everything.
A revamped Heat roster now included Luol Deng and Josh McRoberts, along with Bosh’s running mate Dwayne Wade, who also has a challenge ahead for this season.
