The world was introduced to Chlöe Bailey and her sister, Halle Bailey, as a talented duo that caught the attention of Beyoncé and Parkwood Entertainment. Under the moniker of Chloe x Halle, the duo toured the world, worked with the likes of Victoria Monet and Mike Will Made-It, appeared in television shows and earned five Grammy nominations.
At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, appeared alongside each other in several capacities, but the sisters also ventured off to do their own things from time to time. Halle Bailey secured the lead role in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. Meanwhile, Chlöe Bailey secured a role in Praise This with Druski and Swarm with Dominique Fishback. Now, Chlöe is stepping into her own with the release of solo records like “Have Mercy” and “For The Night” with Latto.
Approximately one month away from the release of her debut solo studio album, In Pieces, Chlöe has returned to deliver the project’s second single, “How Does It Feel” with Chris Brown. Chris Brown and Chlöe are both childhood stars who have been performing since they were kids and their joint visuals reflect that.
The single will excite fans for her forthcoming LP, but it also may be boycotted by many other fans. At the moment the track was announced, fans began to voice their displeasure about the collaboration.
“It’s never surprising, but still upsetting every time a new R&B girl collabs with this known [and] repeated abuser,” freelance writer and social media manager Justice Audre tweeted.
“We’re failing Black women in music if they feel like they have to collaborate with a known abuser in order to chart,” Philadelphia Magazine Editor-At-Large Ernest Owens added.
Despite the backlash that she has faced, Chlöe has stuck with her collaboration with the Grammy Award winner. “How Does It Feel” sets the stage for In Pieces to arrive on March 31, 2023. Check out the visual for the track below.
