It appears that it will be a Bailey sister summer. With Halle Bailey prepping the release of The Little Mermaid and seemingly working on her new music, her older, Chlöe, has popped out with a movie role of her own and a major announcement. After delivering a number of successful pop singles and performing at the MTV Video Music Awards, she set the release date for her debut solo album, In Pieces. The highly-anticipated project is set to drop this March.
With a little over a month until the solo debut hits streaming services, the chart-topping star has delivered her latest single, “Pray It Away.” Just a few weeks away from Valentine’s Day, she isn’t necessarily asking God for a love interest. Rather, she’s praying that the men who are unworthy of her time stay out of her life for good.
“Can’t talk to my friends ’cause they hate you too/And if the option’s violence, don’t make me choose it/God knows my heart, I’m wildin’, wildin’/So close to doin’ something,” she sings.
“Maybe I should go and take it to church/And wash it away ’cause I want that n*gga to hurt/But I’ma just pray it away before I give him what he deserves first/Ah, ah/Take it to church.”
If Chlöe has made anything clear since she began releasing her solo work, it is that she is going to be unapologetically herself as she embarks on this journey. “Pray It Away” be a different pace from her pop singles, but the confidence and bold tone are very much there.
