The Arizona Cardinals have filled two important roles within its coaching staff. Next season, Philadelphia Eagles Linebackers Coach Nick Rallis will serve as the team’s defensive coordinator. On the offensive side of the ball, Cleveland Browns Quarterbacks Coach Drew Petzing will become the team’s offensive coordinator. Rounding out the top of the coaching staff, Jonathan Gannon will fill the head coaching role recently left vacant following the firing of Kiff Kingsbury.
At 29 years old, Rallis is one of the youngest coordinators in the NFL. Prior to becoming the Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator, he worked under Gannon as the Philadelphia Eagles linebackers coach. Additionally, he gained experience in Minnesota as a defensive quality control coach and assistant linebackers coach. He also worked as a graduate assistant at Wake Forest University.
Six years older than Rallis, Petzing is a former Cleveland Browns intern who started his NFL coaching career in Minnesota. After spending five seasons in Minnesota, he became a tight ends coach for the Browns in 2020. Eventually, he moved over to become the team’s quarterbacks coach.
Gannon, Rallis and Petzing will lead the Cardinals into battle next season as they look to bounce back from a 4-13 finish to the 2022-2023 NFL season. Offensively, the team ranked 28th in DVOA Rankings and 25th defensively in DVOA Rankings.
