Only six weeks remain until Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Gennadiy “GGG” Golovkin share the ring for the third time in their pro careers. As the main event nears, Matchroom has unveiled the undercard for the pay-per-view event.
Leading the undercard, former amateur standout Marc Castro will take on Kevin Montiel Mendoza in his first pro bout of more than eight rounds. Joining Castro, Aaron Aponte will go toe-to-toe with fellow unbeaten prospect Fernando Molina. Adding to the card, Anthony Herrera will look to bounce back after receiving the first draw of his career. The young prospect will take on Delvin McKinley, who holds a record of 4-3-1. Rounding out the card, Ali Akhmedov and Gabriel Rosado will fight for the IBF North American Super-Middleweight title while Diego Pacheco fights Enrique Collazo for the WBC USNBC Silver Super-Middleweight title.
Prior to this week’s announcement, Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez announced that he would fight in the co-feature. The rising star out of Texas will defend the WBC Super Flyweight Championship against Israel Gonzalez.
The night’s festivities will conclude with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez defending his undisputed super middleweight title against Gennadiy “GGG” Golovkin in Las Vegas, Nevada.
