The Chicago Bulls got rid of Tom Thibodeau and introduced Fred Hoiberg, Iowa State Head Coach. Thibodeau despite being an excellent defensive minded coach, he has a tendency to over play his players, and use old school methodology that was mean’t to be ‘old school’ for a reason. We know now that technology is a very important method of developing healthy habits and technologies for professional athletes. According to Ken Berger of CBSSports.com, Thibodeau didn’t like the idea of new technology:
At a presentation on wearable technology organized by coaching agent Warren Legarie last year in Chicago, Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau raised his hand. Everyone in the audience knew where this was going.
Thibodeau, fired last week by the Bulls and replaced by Iowa State’s Fred Hoiberg, had resisted overtures from Bulls management to employ wearable technology to monitor players’ recovery, league sources said.
“He was basically challenging it, like, ‘Michael Jordan didn’t need that,’” Kopp said. “Fair point, but one of the most amazing athletes in the entire world, I would argue, would’ve benefited, too. There’s a reason why they call it old school, because it’s been replaced by new thinking.”
According to the article, the Golden State Warriors who are in the NBA Finals Mr.Thibodeau, used this technology to determine when there players needed rest. Remember all those times Kerr randomly rested his players? It was because of the technology! LeBron James is another player who uses a HYPERBOLIC chamber during the NBA Playoffs to cool his body down, so what Michael Jordan didn’t need this technology, if he had it he would have. The Bulls look for Hoiberg to bring in a new regime for the Bulls who are desperately looking to move onto that next step as an NBA team. The Bulls haven’t made it out the East since Jordan, so you wonder why the change.
