The Brooklyn Nets are now officially entrenched in a rebuild. After winning just 21 games last season, the Nets could be in for another similar year.
Fortunately, they are now under new management. Sean Marks, the new GM of the team, has made it his priority to rebuild the Nets from the ground up. He attempted to do so by signing Tyler Johnson to an offer sheet which was matched by the Heat.
But the Nets did have some success in the offseason. Namely, they fixed their biggest position of need by signing Jeremy Lin. Marks was also able to secure a first round pick for Thaddeus Young. They have nice group of young talent highlighted by Chris McCullough and Caris LeVert, both projected lottery picks in their respective drafts until injuries affected their stock.
The Nets’ offseason may not have a huge effect on their record next season. However, they went about things the right way, leaving Brook Lopez speculating that the Nets are finally headed in the right direction.
Lopez and Lin will be charged with leading these Nets. While they may not win many games, they will have a more entertaining team that is on the rise.
