I think it’s great when players, past and present talk about problems that they both had in thier careers. Nerlens Noel did it with Rajon Rondo and now Brook Lopez has chatted to Zydrunas Ilgauskas talking about injuries and coming back. According to Mike Mazzeo of ESPN NY, Brook Lopez is confident he’ll be better than ever.
Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez has spoken briefly with former Cleveland Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, who also underwent an osteotomy procedure during his playing career. But Lopez doesn’t think their situations are going to be exactly the same.
“Like I said before, I’m not looking for any restrictions,” Lopez told two reporters Friday. “I’m confident I’m gonna be able to go out there and be better than I’ve ever been. So from that standpoint, I think our timetables will be different.”
“I talked to Z really quickly in passing after [having my] surgery while I was hurt,” Lopez said. “It was real quick, basic stuff, a lot of words of encouragement.”
I’m sure Brook Lopez will get back to his old ways. He’s one of the best attacking centers in the game and as long as he keeps healthy, he could definitely lead the Nets to the Playoffs.
