Within the last few months, a number of high-profile artists have made ended long layoffs. Earlier this year, J. Cole dropped his first album in three years. More recently, Drake dropped his first album since the summer of 2018. Not to mention, artists like Lloyd Banks and AZ are dropping new studio albums after stepping away for what felt like an entirety. With that said, it doesn’t appear that anyone’s return has been more celebrated than Bobby Shmurda Rowdy Rebel’s.
At the tail end of last year, Rowdy Rebel made his triumphant return to his family and his home while dropping records like “Re-Route” with DJ Funkmaster Flex and “9 Bridge” with A Boogie. In contrast, Bobby Shmurda has been as lowkey as one could be when you have a bright, charismatic personality. While he has teased music here and there, the closest he’s come to releasing new music is appearing at Hot 97’s Summer Jam last month. Instead, he’s spent time reconnecting with family and friends, getting his business affairs in order and reacclimating to society. With that said, he has teased new music here and there. Fortunately, we get to hear what he’s working on tonight.
Earlier today, the New York native hopped on Twitter and announced that he would be releasing his first new single in more than five years. “No Time For Sleep” has the same lively, determined tone that made the Brooklyn native a star way back in 2014. Check out the full track below.
