This Sunday, Disney CEO Bob Iger sat down with Oprah for the latest edition of her Super Soul Sunday series. During the interview, Iger and Winfrey discuss a plethora of topics.
One of the more interesting topics discussed between the two was Iger’s handling of the recent Roseanne Barr debacle on ABC. ABC’s reboot of Roseanne was cancelled back in September after the show’s lead, Roseanne Barr, tweeted a number of disparaging statements. Most notably, Barr referred to former aide to President Obama Valerie Jarrett as an offspring of “Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes”.
When asked about his role in the decision to let the actress go, he said, “It took about five minutes to know what we had to do.”
He added, “It seemed completely insensitive, completely disrespectful. It was very clear. The decision, it was easy to make.”
The two also touched on Iger’s decision not to run for President during this election cycle. Iger explained that he considered the possibility of running for office before his deal with Disney was extended.
Oprah added, “If Bob Iger had decided to run for president, I would be canvassing in Iowa right now.”
She ended by saying, “More than ever, every day, I wish you had done it.”
The full recording of their discussion will be available on Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations podcast on September 30th.
