
Actor Dwayne Johnson has shared the release date for his upcoming film, Black Adam. His first superhero film will hit theaters on July 29, 2022. Johnson unveiled the news Sunday via social media.
“A disruptive and unstoppable force of a message from the man in black himself,” Johnson wrote.
“The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change.”
The announcement was quickly followed by a short teaser during Sunday’s matchup between the Florida State Seminoles and Michigan. Adding on, the teaser was broadcast across Times Square.
Black Adam will tell the story of how the antihero came to be who he is today. Along the way, the story will implement other heroes and villains from the DC Universe as they gear up for a showdown between Black Adam and Shazam.
Johnson will play the lead role while Aldis Hodge plays the role of Hawkman Joining the cast, Noah Centineo will appear as Atom Smasher and Quintessa Swindell will play Cyclone. Most recently, Pierce Brosnan joined the film as Dr. Fate. Rounding out the production, Jaume Collet-Serra will direct the film. Previously, Collet-Serra worked with Johnson in Jungle Cruise along with Emily Blunt.
