If you’re talking about the influx of women carrying New York’s signature sound into a new era, you have to talk about Billy B. Sure, much of the world outside of New York met her through featured verse on “Don’t Play With It” with Lola Brooke, but like Brooke, her discography extends much further than a single song or verse. In fact, everything from her “BK Anthem” in 2019 to “Dolla Sign” with Mini Boom earlier this year should let everyone know that Billy B is ready for her moment. Her latest single, “Mrs. Go Get A Bag,” is yet another example of why she is ready to put her stamp on the New York Hip-Hop scene.
Shot on Fountain Avenue on Cypress Hill Day, the “Mrs. Go Get A Bag” video puts viewers in the heart of New York as Billy B raps about getting money to repping East New York without missing a beat. Her assertive delivery is backed by the understated, yet memorable production from Codename Bellz. Together, the duo sets the tone for Billy B’s album, Better Late Than Never. Released on August 14, the project delivers more than a dozen new songs along with guest appearances from Codename Bellz, Fergie Baby, HighEndSu and LeeLee Babii.
