Celebrating the 10th anniversary of its release, Big Sean has placed his critically-acclaimed project, Detroit, on streaming services. Adding to the special-edition release, Big Sean has unveiled a new track called “More Thoughts” and released the project in CD format.
“Ten years [have passed] since I dropped this tape [and] for everybody who [has] been rockin’ since then, thank you! And for the ones who started f*ckin’ [with] me later, let’s go back [and] experience this,” Big Sean tweeted.
Released in 2012, Detroit followed G.O.O.D Music’s Cruel Summer. The 18-track project included classic Big Sean tracks like “How It Feel” and “Mula” featuring French Montana. Wale, J. Cole, Jhené Aiko, Chris Brown, Kendrick Lamar, Common, Jeezy and many others appeared on the project. Months after its release, it picked up the “Best Mixtape” award at the 2013 BET Hip-Hop Awards.
Eight years after its release, Big Sean released the sequel as a studio album. Led by the release of “Deep Reverence” with Nipsey Hussle, Detroit II featured Eminem, Young Thug, Post Malone, Travis Scott, Lil’ Wayne, Royce Da 5’9 and many others. It debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart and moved 103,000 units in its first week.
