Ever since the announcement of her involvement in the film, Beyonce’s being attached to the live action remake of The Lion King has been an event all in its own. Nailing the role of Nala, it was also shared early on that Queen Bey would be involved in crafting music for the film’s soundtrack. Already hearing a snippet of the stars “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” cover with Donald Glover, Beyonce has unleashed “Spirit”.
Written specifically for the 2019 version of the film, “Spirit” was penned by IIya Salmanzadeh, Timothy McKenzie and Beyonce. Even more exciting, “Spirit” will be included on The Lion King: The Gift, “an album featuring global artists & steeped in the sounds of Africa, produced & curated by Beyonce.” The record will also serve as the single from “The Lion King” soundtrack that features new renditions/covers of records that appeared in the 1994 film and soundtrack.
Delivering in a way that only Beyonce can, “Spirit” covers all the bases and breathes new life and feeling into the classic Disney film. Feeding fans once again as this new music arrives just months after her “Homecoming” film and live-album, we know all of this doesn’t come without much hard work by the worldwide superstar.
“Spirit” is now available to stream, below.
