The Isley Brothers have collaborated with Beyoncé on a remake of their 1975 classic, “Make Me Say It Again Girl.” The single premiered on iHeartRadio on Tuesday and was officially released this Friday.
Ronald Isley shared with Billboard that Beyonce recorded her vocals while preparing her latest album, Renaissance. His wife and manager, Kandy revealed that Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, helped materialize the collaboration.
“Tina Knowles-Lawson [Beyoncé’s mother] was very influential in getting this record started and getting it to the point where we are now,” Kandy told Billboard.
“She has a love for the Isley Brothers and her daughter grew up listening to this type of music. All we can say is that God’s hands was on this whole project. And the fact that they are giving us permission to put it out at this time is just overly special.”
The remake of “Make Me Say It Again Girl” will appear on The Isley Brothers’ new album of the same name, which is slated for release in September. According to Variety, Make Me Say It Again Girl will also include appearances from Alicia Keys, Drake, Trey Songz and Rick Ross.
