
When the Sixers drafted Ben Simmons with the 1st overall pick, many in Philadelphia believe there is hope for a better day of basketball ahead in the city of brotherly love. Although not having played in a regular season or pre-season game, many are excited about what Simmons has to bring to the table as a Sixer. With a young cast of athletic and hungry players around him, Simmons will be a huge facilitator next year.
Despite not reaching stardom yet, Simmons is already reaching superstar status with his jersey sales. Sixers fans are making it apparent that they are excited for the Louisiana State product. According to Philly.com:
Since draft night, Fanatics.com is reporting that in terms of merchandise sales, Simmons is the 10th-best seller among National Basketball Association players. He’s the highest-selling Philadelphia athlete in all sports across the Fanatics platform of hundreds of e-commerce sites, which includes SixersShop.com – the Sixers’ official team store.
Fanatics.com ranked the top 10 NBA player sales from June 23 to Aug. 31. In this order, they were: LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Derrick Rose, Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Russell Westbrook, and Simmons.
Not only that, but Philly.com also reported that SixerShop.com’s overall merchandise sales have gone up 76% compared to last year around the same time. One way or another, Simmons is changing things in Philadelphia, and it looks like it’s for the better. With all the hype in the world surrounding this kid to accomplish something, it’s all up to him now.
