When I first heard the news that Ben Affleck & Matt Damon will be teaming up for a McDonald’s Monopoly Fraud movie, I was extremely confused as to what that even meant. Then it hit me. Every year McDonald’s and Monopoly team up for a contest with the McDonald’s drink comes… kind of peel and win type of thing.
I’m not really into it but supposedly there was a former cop who made it is his duty to steal $24 Million worth of winnings and now Matt Damon & Ben Affleck is going to be teaming up to make a movie about it. According to a report by Jeff Maysh of the Daily Beast, the movie will follow an FBI operation to uncover a crime ring that revolved around stealing millions of winnings from McDonald’s Monopoly peel and wins. Per THR:
Based on a recently published Daily Beast report by Jeff Maysh, the movie will follow the FBI operation to uncover the underground criminal ring, run by someone named “Uncle Jerry,” who used his job as a security officer at the firm that printed the game pieces to defraud the fast food’s annual promotion of $24 million in prize money over several years.
Deadpool writer’s Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese are attached to write the script while Damon and Affleck will play unspecified roles in the movie. This obviously isn’t the first time the two friends have teamed up together for a movie and this might end up being a great movie, although the premise sounds ridiculous. When two academy-award winning actors are attached to a movie, it’s obviously going to go into production.
There is no news as to when we’ll expect this movie but I’m sure we’ll see a trailer once production starts.
