During CinemaCon 2016, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara revealed some news about the upcoming Batman solo film. First, Tsujihara confirmed that the film will actually be happening. Currently untitled, this will be the first solo Batman film since Christopher Nolan’s trilogy ended. Secondly, Tsujihara confirmed that not only will Ben Affleck be starring as Batman, but he’ll actually direct the film as well. There were reports floating around that Affleck already has his own script in place for the film, so it’ll be interesting to see if Warner approves of the script. If so, Affleck will star as Batman, be the director of Batman and wrote the story for Batman.
Ben is currently only signed on to serve as The Dark Knight for Suicide Squad and Justice League Part 1 and 2. The respective parties will now go into contract negotiations to extend the Batfleck. Stay tuned for more details as they emerge.
