Los Angeles Rams left tackle and the 2021 Walter Payton Man of the Year Andrew Whitworth has announced his retirement from the NFL. The 40-year-old left tackle will retire as a Super Bowl LVI champion and as the oldest man to play offensive tackle in the NFL. He is a well-respected player and will likely be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day. He spent his entire career with the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams.
Four-time Pro-Bowl and Super-Bowl champion left tackle Andrew Whitworth, the 2021 Walter Payton Man of the Year, announced his retirement.
There weren’t more universally liked and respected players than the 40-year-old who made NFL history by becoming the oldest OT ever to play.

Andrew Whitworth will retire as a Super Bowl Champion, a four-time Pro Bowler, and a two-time All-Pro selection. The veteran left tackle played 239 regular-season games with the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals in his career. Before Super Bowl LVI, there was speculation that Whitworth would retire and now he makes it official a little over a month after winning the sport’s biggest game.
The epitome of a leader.

Some players play longer than others and most will say they know when it is time to retire. There aren’t many 40-year-olds winning Super Bowls and with that accomplishment, the veteran left tackle felt it was time to hang up his cleats. While the Los Angeles Rams have aspirations to repeat as champions, they will have to with a new starting left tackle. We here at Def Pen Sports wish Andrew Whitworth the best in his retirement and life beyond football.
