“I’m going to say some interesting news and some disappointing news at the same time. About a year or two ago, maybe, we were talking about doing an Outkast and A Tribe Called Quest album”
First off Rest In Peace, Phife Dawg.
During the celebration of Phife Dawg’s life at the Apollo theater in Harlem yesterday, Outkast’s own Andre 3000 took to the stage to pay his respects to not only the life and legacy of Phife but also paid respects to A Tribe Called Quest. Throughout his speech in the video above, we learned that almost a year or two ago, Outkast and ATCQ were supposed to do a joint album with one another but as 3 Stacks mentioned for whatever reason it just did not happen and ultimately he regrets it. He also goes into talking about the influence ATCQ had on Outkast as they were coming up in Atlanta and how they wanted to be just like them but more of a “Street Tribe”, “Hood Tribe”, jokingly.
“We Loved Them N*ggas, so bad”
We then got to witness Andre 3000 speak on the generation now and how things are certainly changing but the change needs to be welcomed as opposed to everyone hating on each other; young and old alike. It was a great thing to see him up on stage shedding light on a few things and with this untimely passing of Phife Dawg, one can only wonder will this light a fireunder his feet to deliver on some new music.
