Aminé showcased his unique style 2,000 feet above the ground during a special performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Sitting in air balloon, the Portland native showed out for his hometown neighborhood during a performance of “Woodlawn” on the late-night show. Then, he took things up a notch by landing the air balloon and performing “Burden” inside of it.
While he was busy showcasing his new music, the best-selling artist was also honoring the lives of those Black people who were killed recently. Spray-painted across the side of the air balloon, onlookers could see three letters, B-L-M. Also, the Limbo rapper also sported a t-shirt with the faces of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Trayon Martin, Sandra Bland and Michael Brown.
Thursday was not the first time the Portland artist made a statement on a late-night show. In 2017, he added a verse to “Caroline” during a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
“9/11 [is] a day that we’re never forgetting. 11/9 [is] a day that we’re all regretting. If my President is [Donald] Trump, then it’s relevant enough for me to talk about it on TV and not give a f*ck,” he said.
“I’m Black. I’m proud. My skin is brown and I’m loud. Everybody loves it when a rapper tells some lies. Well, that ain’t me. Homie, I guess that ain’t a surprise. America wants to act all happy and holy, but deep down inside they’re like Brad and Jolie. Caroline [is] divine and I won’t get specific. Club banana is the illest and it’s too terrific. You could never make America great again. All you did is make America hate again.”
