Actor Daniel Dae Kim has found a home for his new series, Butterfly. Amazon has reportedly given the project a series order.
“[Butterfly is] a spy thriller that explores family dynamics in the world of global espionage,” a brief description from The Hollywood Reporter reads.
“The series revolves around David Jung, a former U.S. intelligence operative living in South Korea whose life is blown to pieces when the consequences of an impossible decision from his past come back to haunt him, and he finds himself pursued by Rebecca, a deadly, sociopathic young agent assigned to kill him.”
Kim is set to executive produce and star in the series as well. Joining him, Ken Woodruff of Gotham is set to work as the showrunner. Meanwhile, Arash Amel, who created the comic book that inspired the series, will work as an executive producer as well.
With the ongoing WGA strike, it is unclear when or if the project will get off the ground in the near future. All other new projects under the Amazon umbrella are currently at a standstill.
