Netflix is no stranger to taking risks on their original programming. However, Altered Carbon might be the biggest risk they’ve taken yet. Upon viewing the footage that has been released thus far we can quickly tell that this looks like the most expensive show Netflix has ever made. The Blade Runner-esque visuals are stunning and provide an interesting backdrop for this elevated sci-fi content. It remains to be seen if Altered Carbon will live up to the visuals that Netflix has produced thus far, but they’ve definitely peaked a lot of peoples curiosity with what they could be cooking up.
We’ve attached a behind the scenes featurette that gives you a deeper look into the world of ‘Altered Carbon’ below. ‘Altered Carbon’ is set to drop on the eighth of February in 2018.
Altered Carbon is a 2002 hardboiled cyberpunk science fiction novel by Richard K. Morgan. Set some five hundred years in the future in a universe in which the United Nations Protectorate oversees a number of extrasolar planets settled by human beings, it features Takeshi Kovacs as a former U.N. elite soldier and a native of Harlan’s World, a planet settled by a Japanese keiretsu with Eastern European labour.
