The trade deadline is approaching and the Sacramento Kings have hired head coach George Karl after numerous rumors. After former Coach of the Year was hired, they want to shake things up heavily before the trade deadline. Just this afternoon, Jason Thompson asked to be traded by the Kings, and other players such as Derrick Williams, and Nik Staukus have been mentioned in the trade discussions.
According to Sportsnews.com:
The Kings could be willing to gamble on Bucks forward Ersan Ilyasova, who has struggled with injuries and has seen his play decline over the past two seasons. The Bucks would be happy to rid themselves off the final two years and $16 million on Ilyasova’s contract.
Even if they can’t get their ideal stretch-4 on the trade market, the Kings still intend to add shooting to create more floor space for All-Star big man DeMarcus Cousins. They’ve had discussions with the former team of both Karl and general manager Pete D’Alessandro—the Nuggets, who are seeking to deal Arron Afflalo and Wilson Chandler.
Sources said the Kings also expressed interest in the Pistons’ Jonas Jerebko and Thunder guard Reggie Jackson, though those talks were only preliminary.
The Sacramento Kings are looking to add some depth that they most definitely need. After having a good start to their season, they have definitely started to struggle. With the hiring of George Karl, and other free agents looming around for sale, the Kings will definitely try to make a move to shake things up.
