Aaliyah’s music will be made available to the masses in the new decade. The late star’s uncle, Barry Hankerson, announced on Twitter that her full discography will be available for streaming in 2020.
Hankerson shared, “We listened, this is not a drill in honor of the great legacy of Aaliyah.”
Her music will be made available on January 16th 2020, which would’ve been her 41st birthday. Her debut album, Age Ain’t Nothin but a Number, is currently available and now her second and third albums will be added as well.
Previously, the late musician’s second and third album had allegedly been held back from streaming services because of her uncle. Hankerson is a long time music executive who has worked with Missy Elliott, Timbaland and many more stars of her era. Outside of her debut album, he owns the rights of all of her music. It’s unclear what led to his change of heart, but we’re glad we can access her music more easily in the new year.
