The Cleveland Browns shook the draft board when they decided to trade their 2nd overall selection with the Philadelphia Eagles for a package of picks. The Browns will first pick 8th overall but more importantly they do hold 6 of the first 100 picks.
The Browns have gotten this sort of mega package before and failed to cash in on the selections. The Sammy Watkins and Julio Jones draft day trades are recent examples of this. If the Browns do stay at 8 they would be wise to just select the best player available regardless of position. It is possible one of the top tackles could be on the board with the 8th pick. If that does come to fruition incumbent left tackle Joe Thomas could be on the move elsewhere.
Another possibility is UCLA star linebacker Myles Jack falls into their laps. It is impossible for me to say how his knee will hold up with having access to the teams doctors but make no mistake about it he is the best player in the draft. No player is more versatile than Jack who could play outside linebacker, inside linebacker, and even safety.
An intriguing aspect the Browns draft is the amount of picks they have later in the draft. Two thirds, 3 fourths, and 3 fifths will make them an interesting team to keep an eye on in terms of trades. If they do choose to keep all of those picks there are some key positions to watch particularity at quarterback, runningback, and wide receiver. Cleveland likely takes a quarterback it is just a matter of who and where. Paxton Lynch could be that guy at 8 or maybe Connor Cook is the answer in the second round with pick 32.
