The Metropolitan Museum of Art has selected Michaela Coel, Penélope Cruz, Roger Federer and Dua Lipa to lead the 2023 Met Gala. Alongside Vogue‘s Anna Wintour, Cruz, Federer, Coel and Lipa will help develop the event’s guest list and work with the culinary team to craft the menu. Not to be forgotten, this year’s Met Gala co-chairs will help out with interior design selections.
“I am so excited to be coming back to New York to co-host this years Met Gala with Dua Lipa, Michaela Coel, Penelope Cruz and my dear friend, Anna Wintour,” Roger Federer wrote.
“The 2023 Met Gala celebrates the opening of ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’ and provides The Costume Institute with its primary source of annual funding for exhibitions, publications, acquisitions, operations, and capital improvements,” Dua Lipa added.
This year’s gala is set to take place on May 1, 2023. The event will honor the life of Karl Lagerfeld and benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. Attendees are encouraged to dress in “in honor of Karl.”
Four days after the event takes place, the Metropolitan Museum of Art will honor Karl Lagerfeld once again. The museum is set to open an exhibit in his honor, reflecting back on his life, legacy and career.
