The Golden State Warriors set the NBA record for most wins in a season last season, winning 73 games. They made it to the NBA Finals, but eventually lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers after blowing a 3-1 lead.
Did this Warriors team have holes? Sure, but very small, unnoticeable holes. What would happen if they filled these holes? Would the go undefeated? I guess we will find out, as Andre Iguodala recently said the newest Warrior, Kevin Durant, will fill all of these holes.
From Michael Lee of Yahoo!’s The Vertical:
“There were some holes and some weaknesses that we had,” Iguodala said. “And we got a monster that filled them all. We got a monster on our team right now.”
The former NBA Final’s MVP may have a point: other than himself, who did they have to stop LeBron James? Harrison Barnes wasn’t effective enough in slowing down James, so when Iguodala needed rest no one could stop LeBron. Now, with Durant, they have another player who can match up with LeBron.
On the offensive side of the ball, you would think this offensive juggernaut had no holes, but they did. In the Finals, the offense would like stagnant at times. With Durant, possibly the best one-on-one player in the NBA, they just add another option on the offensive side of the ball.
Durant is a monster on the court, and he will do nothing but help the Warriors on their quest to win another NBA Championship.
