If you are familiar with the name, Lecrae, and you are familiar with the name, Zaytoven, you may not envision the two working together. However, that is exactly what is about to happen. In a world where Snoop Dogg just released a gospel album, anything is possible. Zaytoven and Lecrae are gearing up for the release of their collaborative project, Let The Trap Say Amen. Today, the unlikely duo has decided to give us the first offering from their upcoming project.
The three minute track features Lecrae experimenting a with a flow that is different than anything we’ve heard him use before. The song is an interesting fuse of Lecrae popping sh*t like every other rapper and him alluding to Christian values. On the first verse Lecrae raps, “I’ve been rocked crowds on the big stage (I did)/I’ve been made hits with some big names (I did)/Yadda, yadda, yadda, yadda/Bought a Mercedes for my baby momma/VIP rocking Dolce & Gabbana/I went to the Grammys and I took my momma/Bottles on bottles on bottles/And models on models on models and dollars on dollars/Yeah, that don’t help me when my soul wanna holler.”
Later, Lecrae follows up with, “I don’t really stress, I pray more/Dear Lord, stretch my queso/I’ve been doin’ this since you was like, Otro nuevo playin’ with your Legos/Look, I don’t cap, I rap facts/You can go and check the stats/You and your squad versus me and my God/Look, bro, you ain’t finna win that now.”
Lecrae and Zaytoven’s Let The Trap Say Amen will be released on June 22nd. Be on the lookout for that project and any more singles that may become available in the coming weeks. For now, check out “Get Back Right”.
